So on the second day of the Detroit Motor Show Chrysler unveiled the new 2019 Jeep Cherokee. And while the new model is said to be more premium and sophisticated with its sating chrome and high gloss accents, it’s still quite frankly just hideous as before. But hey, if the way it looks tickle your bits, then you will like all the updates the new model features.
2019 Jeep Cherokee features new or updated front fascia, hood, LED headlamps, daylight ruing lamps and fog lamps, and as mentioned it does feature some nice chrome and high-gloss accents inside the cabin. Among the other new highlights we have the lightweight, handsfree power liftgate, available dual-pane sunroof, new wheel designs, and improved rear cargo volume and more convenient storage space. So if you get past those looks, the Cherokee is actually a pretty decent family car.

As for the powertrains, 2019 Jeep Cherokee can be had with a 2.0-liter direct-injection turbocharged four-pot developing 270 horsepower and 295 lb.-ft. of torque equipped with engine stop-start (ESS), or a less efficient but no more powerful 3.2-liter Pentastar V-6 engine with ESS delivering 271 horsepower and 239 lb.-ft.

On the 70th aiversary of the iconic Defender, and with an all-new model currently in the works, Land Rover decided to treat the fans of this car to something rather special. The Classic Defender Works V8 is a tribute to the early V8 models, and the most powerful version of the SUV ever built.
The 5.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol V8 powertrain featured in the Defender Works V8 chus out 405PS and 515 Nm of torque. That is a far cry from the standard Defender which has to make do with only 122PS and 360 Nm. As a result, this V8 version is a limited, collector’s edition of just 150 copies, and the only one capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds with a top speed of 106 mph.

The performance highlights of the V8 Defender include eight-speed ZF automatic transmission with sport mode, uprated brakes and handling kit (springs, dampers and anti-roll bars), plus exclusive 18-inch diamond-tued Sawtooth alloy wheels and 265/65 R18 all-terrain tyres. Those of familiar with the previous generations of Kia’s affordable compact, the Forte – also known as Cerato in some markets – are not going to believe this is the new version. It just looks too good to be a Forte. But this is it, the new and much improved 2019 Kia Forte sedan.
The reason for the new Forte’s cool looks is its big brother, the Stinger sports sedan. Designers have downsized that car and stripped some of the fancy bits. And voila, here’s your 2019 Kia Forte, looking cool and sophisticated. Improvements are more than skin deep, however, as the new model also features more tech, more spacious and better efficiency.

Built rigidly to become a top safety performer this year, the 2019 Kia Forte also has better NVH levels than its predecessor. We’re just not sure what this extra stiffness means for ride comfort, which was always a big flaw with the previous generations of this car. They call it a prototype, but this is to all intents and purposes the new 2019 Acura RDX. It’s a nice SUV, but in an old-fashioned sort of way. Not that it lacks tech features. On the contrary, the new RDX is brimming with geeky gadgets. But the whole thing looks and feels not entirely mode somehow.
This is most evident inside the cabin where designers have tried to give 2019 Acura RDX a crisp mode look by compromising on convenience and logic. And they still haven’t pull it off. But hey, there are certain characteristics that come with an Acura and those who buy them actually like them. Believe me, I get it. Unless you are a monumental car bore, getting emotional about a car is probably the most uncool thing you can think of. After all, what kind of person forms an attachment to bits of metal, plastic and oil? But you see, us car guys know that that exists and it’s real. Many of us have experienced it. No. Well, yes, maybe. Everyone has faults and flaws. But as far as your emotional attachment to your car goes, it is only natural. Humans grow fond of people and things because those people and things satisfy certain needs they have, be it material or spiritual. I’m not saying you fall in love with your car because it gets you from A to B. You love that thing because of the memories you associate with it, because of how it once made you feel.
And that is the most natural of human behaviors. Now, some people say this should only apply to other human beings or at least other living things. Hot crossovers with more power than their class would warrant seem to be gaining momentum in the market. This is what Ford has come up with to remain competitive, the 2019 Ford Edge ST. This small crossover features a 335 Horsepower 2.7-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost engine.
That motor also makes 380 lb.-ft. of torque. It is no longer cool, at least among the sophisticated well-to-do people, to have the biggest, largest and most extravagant. That is why luxury car makers have adopted downsizing routine this past few years, although downsizing for them is replacing a V12, or W12, engine with a V8. That is the case with the 2018 Bentley Bentayga V8.
Powered by a sweet-sounding 4.0-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine, the 2018 Bentley Bentayga V8is the ‘sensible’ version of this super deluxe SUV with 550 horsepower and 568 lb.ft. (770 Nm) of torque. That power is what makes the W12 version look utterly and completely pointless. Yes, it’s yet another tweaked version of an old model. But this Lotus Evora GT410 Sport is a good one, striking the right balance between performance and everyday usability. It is also one of the nicest looking Lotuses (or is it Loti?) of recent years.
Whereas the GT430 is a tad on the rough side of things, the new Lotus Evora GT410 Sport is more practical, available in both 2 seat and 2+2 configurations, and with manual orautomatic transmissions. Power, as the name suggests, stands 410 horsepower, giving this 1,256 kg sports car a power-to-weight ratio of 326 hp per toe. That translates to a 0 to 60 mph time of 3.9 seconds (manual gearbox 4.0 seconds) and a top speed of 190 mph or 305 km/h.
While it does take balls of steel to do that kind of speed in a small and feather weight car, Lotus Evora GT410 Sport tries its best to protect you by first and foremost being an aerodynamically precise. Can’t afford the new Megane RS? Don’t despair. For a lot less money you can get yourself a Renault Clio R.S.18 which, in many ways, is a cooler proposition. Well, you may be able to get one, because it’s a limited edition model and these cars usually sell like hot cakes.
Named after Renault Sport Formula One Team’s 2018, the 2018 Renault Clio R.S.18 is a car designed for motorsport enthusiasts. The color scheme mirrors that of the F1 car with black and yellow accents. It also gets special R.S.18 badging on the front doors, plus the grey decals and new R.S. double-diamond logo on the roof. But perhaps the most daring feature of the exterior is the Sirius Yellow for the F1-style front blade, protective side mouldings and wheel centre caps which go really well with the deep black paint work.

The trendiest trend in the auto world in 2018 seems to be artificial intelligent. Car makers are scrambling to get ahead in this field, and Mercedes-Benz just made a huge leap with their new infotainment system. Unveiled at CES in Las Vegas, the new Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) is an infotainment system infused with AI.
You still get all the traditional features of a good in-car entertainment and coectivity system, only with the MBUX they are better. You get high-resolution Widescreen Cockpit with touchscreen operation, navigation and voice recognition. But these in the Mercedes-Benz User Experience are complemented with augmented reality technology plus intelligent voice control with natural speech recognition. Think of this system as a big in-car smartphone. “Hey Mercedes” is the phrase that activates the thing.

If you have already purchased a 2017 modelyear MINI, well, don’t feel bad. The fact is, the upgrades lavished on the 2018 MINI are not that remarkable. There are a few cosmetic and equipment enhancements, but nothing you can’t already get aftermarket. Well, apart from the new 7-speed Steptronic transmission.
If you can leave without the new dual-clutch gearbox with paddle shifts, then the rest of 2018 MINI Cooper is not that much better than its immediate predecessor. Starting today, the new extra-well-equipped Kia Picanto X-Line goes on sale in the UK with a base price of £12,595. Unveiled at the IAA last year, the X-Line comes with a number of exclusive exterior and interior appointments, plus more standard equipment.
2018 Kia Picanto X-Line comes with a 1.25-litre petrol engine (83bhp and 122 Nm of torque) and five-speed manual gearbox, with a four-speed automatic transmission available for an additional £650. You get a combined fuel economy figure of 61.4mpg out of this engine, corresponding to CO2 emissions that are as low as 106g/km (manual). So the car is pretty to cheap to run. But it doesn’t look it, thanks to the X-Line design highlights such as lime green accents around the lights, black side sills and wheel arches, body color door handles and 16 inch wheels.

Americans love their SUVs plush, and so Mercedes aounced the launch of a more ‘Grand’ version of their GLS for the US market. The 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLS Grand Edition comes with exclusive interior and exterior elements that set it apart from the standard version.
The cost of this extra luxuriousness will be aounced after the debut of Mercedes-Benz GLS Grand Edition at the Detroit Auto Show and before it reaches the dealerships in mid-2018. It will be available on both GLS450 4MATIC and GLS550 4MATIC, so if you only want to look top-of-the-line but don’t big power to go with it you can get the smaller, cheaper one and still enjoy the looks and amenities.
As for what makes the Mercedes-Benz GLS Grand Edition special, on the outside we have exclusive badges and fancy new wheels. But here is a giveaway as to which version of the Grand you are driving. The electric concept Kia promised they would reveal at the Consumer Electronics Show tued out to be something more familiar than we were expecting. The Kia Niro EV Concept is a fully electric version of the Niro Hybrid, and it is but one of a total of 16 electrified vehicles Kia is going to launch by 2025.
Now, the Niro we know is an alright-looking compact SUV. It’s not that pretty, but it’s also not weird like it’s electric cousin. Granted, Kia Niro EV is a concept for now. But there is no denying that it is a fairly unsightly thing to look at. But it is aerodynamically-efficient they say, and the cues you see on it, such as the slim lights, will be featured on other future cars as a hallmark of Kia’s electrified models.

Hyundai’s CES 2018 exhibit is all about technology features they will be incorporating into their future production models. But they have also brought along a concept car, Hyundai NEXO, which is the firm’s second-generation of commercialized fuel cell electric vehicle, headed for production and release in select markets very soon.
A lot of people believe that the whole fuel cell thing probably has no future because the infrastructure needed to make it work is virtually non-existent. But Hyundai keeps working on improving their FCEVs, so they would be ready if, some day, these cars went mainstream. Hyundai NEXO is a much-improved product compared to its predecessor, the Tucson FCEV, with a range of 370 miles, 105 more than the Tucson. It’s also been tested more thoroughly and is just as versatile, says the company, as any gasoline-powered vehicle.

Right now there is a lot of brouhaha in the automotive world about the autonomous vehicles and how advanced they are getting. But we can’t help thinking it is very much like the buzz created by fuel cell technology when it first came into focus a decade or so ago. No one is taking the time to research if the real world is ready for an influx of robot cars. And there is yet another new thing on the horizon: brain-controlled cars.
Although the concept of brain-controlled cars may seem at first glance an even more outlandish idea than having an electronic brain driving the vehicle, when one thinks about the basics of it, it actually makes more sense. The whole thing about autonomous vehicles is that you can just sit back and let the machine do the grunt work. Well, you can do the same with a brain-controlled car, only here it is still you who makes the decisions… only using the power of your mind – the “force” as it were.

After giving us a taste of the new 2019 Mercedes G-Class interior, Daimler has now released the first photos of the legendary SUV flexing its muscles on an offroad course. Granted, it’s a heavily camo’d prototype, but it does reveal pretty much all that is new about this model.
Nobody, of course, expects the 2019 Mercedes G-Class to come with a radical new design. It is going to maintain the iconic boxy shape of its predecessor. The new stuff are mainly trivial details such as rounder headlights, slimmer taillights, new bumper design, and a more prominent grille. And that’s alright. We don’t our beloved G-Wagen to look any different. The interior changes have been more substantial, giving the big G a more refined and luxurious feel inside the cabin.
As for the technical specs, while the performance figures of the 2019 Mercedes G-Class are yet to be released, we have some initial details to drool over. The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas has become in recent years a battle ground for auto makers to show off their latest technologies. So it’s the appropriate place for Hyundai to reveal their next-generation Hyundai FCEV fuel cell Concept, revealed here in this visual preview.
If you don’t like the look of this thing, and who can blame you, don’t worry. This is not a concept to showcase the prowess of the design department, but rather that of the engineering fellas. The Hyundai FCEV Concept is the next-generation hydrogen-powered fuel cell electric vehicle equipped with new Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) technologies. These tech stuff ought to the average CES goer really happy.
Hyundai has always been at the forefront of the hydrogen fuel cell game, even in recent times where the outlook is the bleakest for this technology. Not only are they not giving up on the FCEV, the Korean car maker is investing in hydrogen-powered applications in the home via a section of the booth dedicated to the Hydrogen Life Vision. Along with its sister company Hyundai, Kia Motors is coming to CES 2018 with a futuristic, technologically-advanced concept model. This as yet uamed EV concept is mostly about showcasing Kia’s advances in electric powertrains and autonomous driving, but it also appears to be have a rather interesting design.
The main highlights of the Las Vegas-bound Kia EV concept include a highly efficient battery-electric powertrain, never-seen-before human-machine interface (HMI) and an advanced new ‘motion graphic’ lighting system. What’s more, Kia will showcase ‘Beyond Autonomous Driving’ exhibit in which we lea about “outline the company’s plans for vehicle autonomy and mobility, supported by the introduction of upcoming autonomous drive technologies.” Yet another attraction of Kia’s display at CES is the three interactive, cockpit-style exhibits showcasing advanced driver assistance technologies, new user interface, and world’s first in-car 5G coection.

The long wheelbase version of the Tiguan SUV, known simply as the VW Tiguan Allspace, is now available to order in the UK. The extra-practical vehicle comes with a longer wheelbase for added luggage capacity and third-row seats as its main highlights.
